Wesley Weekly #23: Socialism and the New Testament

Welcome back to the Wesley Weekly! We’re excited to share our conversations with you!

What You May Have Missed…

Last week we talked about capitalism and the Bible. We discussed how some people can twist verses in the Bible to support their claims that the ideology of capitalism is consistent with Christianity. What do you think about capitalism? Let us know in the comments! Seriously, we want to hear your opinions.

The MSU Wesley Foundation has restructured our Patreon page and we would be grateful if you would check it out! If you would like to donate, please visit our Patreon!

This Week

This Thursday, we’re continuing our discussion on political and economic systems and the Bible! This time we are turning our focus to Socialism and the New Testament. If you’re interested in joining us, send us a message to get the link to the Zoom call!

Prayers and Concerns

We continue to wish the best for our students as they navigate the online school “experience”.

If there is anything you would like the community to pray for, send us a message, or reach out to us on our social media pages.

Student Thoughts

Q: “What would you do if you had a billion dollars?”

A: “Sky Town. Like a micro version of the Jetsons world.”

A: “I would donate to a ton of causes and museums, buy a library’s worth of books, and travel. Oh yeah, and wipe out my student debt.”

A: “I would take care of practical things, and then probably travel and donate some of it.”

A: “A lot.
#1 I want a batmobile.
#2 fund cybernetic research”

A: “I’ll probably just live off of it until I die and if it ever starts to get lower than I was thinking it would, I’d probably invest a relatively smallish portion (small compared to a billion).”

A: “I would save some of it as an emergency fund. Then I would help my family out so that they don’t have to worry about things like debt. There are some things I want to buy or do for myself. After that, I’d use it to live comfortably and donate part to different charities.”

A: “Get a place to live by myself and a nice cushy job where I don’t have to do too much work.”

If you have something you would like to write for us, or interesting questions you would like to ask us, send us a message on any of our social media or on our contacts page!
